Visakhapantnam: After putting up a spectacular show in the GVMC elections, YSR Congress Party leaders have started hectic lobbying for the mayoral nominee. The Mayor election is scheduled on March 18. The name of Vamshi Krishna Srinivas, city president of YSRCP who won from 22nd division, is being heard as a hot probable for the Mayor's post. He was pacified during 2019 Assembly elections after denial of party ticket for MLA from Visakhapatnam East segment and reportedly promised to be accommodated as Mayor in future.
The names of Akkaramani Rohini (9th ward), Korukonda Venkata Ratna Swathi (9th ward), Nakella Lakshmi (20th ward), P. Usha Sri (43rd ward), Tippala Vamsi Reddy (74th ward) and Behera Venkata Swarna Latha Siva Devi (92nd ward).

In the results announced on Sunday evening, YSRCP bagged 58 divisions (wards) out of 98, way ahead of TDP which has to be content with 30 in its kitty. The biggest surprise was sprang by Jana Sena founded by actor Pawan Kalyan which bagged three seats in alliance with BJP.
The saffron party emerged victorious in one division. Independents won four seats. CPI and CPI (M) have won one seat each in the industrial belt where the agitation against RINL privatisation is being organised.
TDP in a strategic move, did not put up any candidate against the left parties in the two divisions to prevent split in non-YSRCP votes.
Reacting to the election verdict, YSRCP parliamentary party leader V. Vijayasair Reddy said the clean sweep achieved by them was a mandate in support of good governance by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He described the win in GVMC elections here as overwhelming support of the people for the government's decision to develop the Executive capital in Visakhapatnam.
